Ultimate Cooking

                     

In Te Ngahere we have been going to technology, only the year 7’s and 8’s can go to technology. The year 8s do woodwork and the year 7s do cooking. The teacher that teaches cooking is Whaea Dot and the teacher that does woodworks is Mr E. For cooking we made a apple sponge, first we took some apples and we peeled them, then we cut them all up and put them in a pot and put some water inside the pot and added the apples in. After that we let them cook. While the apples were cooking we made the sponge batter,  to make the sponge you need 8 tablespoons of flour, 3 quarters of baking powder, then mix it with the flour. The next thing we did was put a block of butter in to the pot and let it melt, then we put the flour and the baking powder in with the butter and mixed it. Then we put the sponge batter on top of the apples and let it cook. After 20 minutes we ate it and we go to add ice cream “ Yummy”.

Awesome Ngahere Notes

 In Te Ngahere we have been learning about what is in our ngahere. First we had to make a Google doc and get an animal from the ngahere. Then we got the information about your animal like what it’s habitat is what it’s diet s and more . Then after you finished your Google doc you can make an animation or screencastify. I chose to make an animation so what I did was I made I Funko Pop and put in on to my animation then I got same speech bubbles and put them next to the funko pop to make it look like the funko pop was taking. After that I got the information from my Google doc and put it onto the speech box one by one. Then at the end we made a presentation about all of the information we added. We did this to teach others about the NZ ngahere and the animals in it

Amazing Cooking

 

On Tuesday the year 7s and 8s went to technology the 7s did cooking and the year 8s did woodwork. Our teacher for cooking was Whaea Dot and the teacher for woodworks was Mr Edward. For cooking we made pizzas on my pizzas I had tomato, onions, capsicum, bacon and pineapple. The hard part about cooking was at the end of the day we had to clean our units and do the dishes. The ingredients I used to make the dough   was flour, olive oil, sugar, milk powder and yeast. Then after the dough was finished we got the flour shaker and the rolling pin we sprinkled flour on my unit and on the rolling pin and we made the dough into a 1 big circle using the rolling pin, Then you put on tomato pasta sauce then we put on all of our ingredients on top of the pasta sauce. I enjoyed doing cooking because you got to learnt how to make awesome foods like pizza and other cool food.

Mind Blowing Reading Test

  On the first day of the new term we had to do a reading activity. The test was about following directions. Our teacher gave us a piece of paper with directions on it we had to read everything carefully before doing anything but I didn’t listen and I just read the directions well I was going down the piece of paper. I thought it was going to be easy just following the directions on the paper. I got to the 19th directions and the first direction said to read everything carefully before doing anything and the last directions said now that you have finished reading everything carefully do only sentences one and two then quietly draw on the back of the paper while you wait for everyone else to finish. So we just had to do sentence one and two. We did this reading activity to learn to follow directions. This reading tests made we feel very happy because I like to do reading tests and it make me learnt more reading.  Have you ever done a reading test like this before?

Spectacular Smart Surfing

 In Te Ngahere this week we have been learning about smart surfing. We had to learn more about keywords instead of using what, where and how in your Google search. So the first thing we did was found facts about spiders we had to find out where they live but you can’t use what where and how. 

Here's is an example what do spiders eat but you have to only use the keywords in the sentence the keywords in the sentence were spider eat. The second thing we did is we had to find out where they live but only using keywords in the Google search. The last thing we had to find was an animal in the ngahere then you have to get a paragraph about your animal and find the keywords in the paragraph.

Cool fact about the coastal seas

 In Te Ngahere this week we have been learning about the coastal seas by watching Our Planet by David Attenborough. We learnt a lot about the coastal seas and how climate change is affecting our waters. One of the facts that was really interesting was one of the reefs were home to quarter of the population of fish. There were a lot of cool facts in that episode. Another cool fact I got from that episode was that the shark and the fish  try to help fix our reefs.

Unimaginable Taskmasters

In Te ngahere we have been doing the taskmasters. The Taskmaster is a cool activity to do with your class . The rules were that there is one drawer and two runners there is one piece of paper outside on the widow with pictures on it. The thing that work well was communicating with our group. The thing the didn't work well was when you are trying to tell your group where the pictures are on the paper it would just confused the drawer and the runners. Our tema drawer was Dale and the two runners were me and River. Have you ever done same thing like taskmasters.
